Ashish Sharma is a post doctoral researcher working on climate modeling for the Climate Change Adaptation program with Jessica Hellmann. He received his Ph.D in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Arizona State University with a focus on rainfall in semi-arid regions using Weather Research & Forecasting (WRF) tool. He has experience studying the effects of changing land surface types due to anthropogenic and natural causes on the local climate and its interactions with regional climate. Sharma uses WRF for climate downscaling for urban and arid regions, examining effect of wind turbines for wind energy research and simulating engineering flows using CFD tools. His current regional focus is the greater Chicago area and Lake Michigan environs.
